CATS CLASSIFIED CAR-NIVAL 2011 @SINGAPORE EXPO- 10 JULY Completed a one-day event for Auto-saver, a car repair and service company that specializes in Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Hyundai and Kia. I am not a car fanatic- I show no absolute interest in cars. I have minimal general knowledge of cars, not to even mention the maintenance aspect. Yesterday, I had to introduce Auto-saver’s service package to walk-in crowd. Managed to sell a few packages, though it is far from ideal of the managing director of at least 50. Too many technical details. Too much concept to grasp. Cars? Totally not my thing. Friday, July 08, 2011, 10:47 PM
6 July 2011- a day before Ng Ghim Hwee turned older. Dined at Sapporo Ramen BISHAMON @ Great World City with 13 others. Had a few rounds of drinking behind Waterfront Plaza with the game '007'. Cut cakes, sang birthday song, lots of laughters, lots of jokes. Extended our birthday greetings to the birthday boy who couldn't wait to step out of his teen years. Group dispersed at 1230AM. Home at 1AM. Apparently my boyfriend cannot hold his liquor very well. He and I have gone on such drinking sessions for a couple of times and due-to-i-don't-know-what-reason he had to throw up on 2 occasions. I honestly don’t think that he drank a lot more than I do! Or maybe he really did? Martell tastes bad. Bacardi tastes equally awful. All liquors, beers and wines just aren’t my cup of tea. You know my preference- anything nutritious. Give me Milo, and you can have me smiling all day. _____ As part of the curriculum for World Issues: A Singapore Perspective (WISP), this is an Interdisciplinary Studies module which students in certain schools in NP have to take. A trip to SAF Pasir Laba Camp visit was arranged for students who are taking this module. I dragged myself out of bed in the early morning to be on time to gather in school at 8AM. It was an enjoyable trip, one that is definitely worth my time. Entered Heritage Trail of how SAF evolved since the early years Checked out the SAF museum Had a taste of army ration packed food. [The individually packed food are sealed and can be kept for up to 3 years. When soldiers are outfield, they had to carry such neatly packed food which includes main course (dumpling, pasta, baked rice etc), beverages (Ovaltine, coffee, orange tea, lemon tea), and biscuits. I tried the Chicken Ham and Sausage food pack. Don’t underestimate a pack of biscuit with 4-5 crackers. It is supposed to last one for 24 hours. Oh no, I can never do that. I’ll die after 3 hours.] Entered one of the bunk to have a sense of what the routine is like and how much regimentation soldiers have to comply with. Walked into one of the darkness room to experience how soldiers navigate themselves through total darkness using an equipment to guide us out of it. Never imagined that I would be able to fire any shots some day. Real military weapons. I feel that such camp visits should be limited only to students who are Singapore citizens. This way, we can afford to have more Singaporean students joining on the trips. We also do not be want to be exposing the foreign students to our defense force as ultimately they will still return to serve their home country. What is important is to take care of our fellow Singaporeans, to make sure we are well taken care of. I really enjoyed the virgin trip to an SAF camp. It gave me the opportunity to have a better understanding of what our army guys are going through. Would love to visit the open house if there was any. Oh, did I mention that I was busy checking out the cute guys? Saturday, July 02, 2011, 10:58 PM
Pulau Ubin with baby and friends on 25 June. A chat with mummy before the trip turned out that I had been to Pulau Ubin when I was little, possibly less than 10 years old. She said that we were there to pray as there is a temple situated on the island. Besides that, it is all flora and fauna and nothing much that I would come to appreciate. Together with Baby and friends, we went cycling on a sunny Saturday morning. 4 hours of cycling. Shared a huge coconut that costs $3.50 with baby. Body became a hotspot for mosquitos’ bites. Arms and legs turned a shade visibly darker. Queued 40 minutes for the famous Nasi Lemak at Changi Village Food Center. Never gonna waste calories on less-than-average heartland Nasi Lemak anymore.
________________________________ Woke up bright and early for Organizational Bahavior workshop rehearsal in school. The actual workshop is to be held on 9 July, the coming Saturday. This is a compulsory training workshop that all students who are taking the Human Resource specialization have to undergo. Basically we are to act as professional trainers whom the school has engaged to conduct ‘Teambuilding’ workshop for the Year 1 Business Studies students. The meeting this morning between my team and one other team was quite a fruitful one; we managed to have a trial of the activities that we had to do. Together with 8 other ladies (trainers), we are to manage a group of not more than 50 students on the actual day. Activities include ‘To Be or Knot To Be’, ‘Charades’, and ‘The Rainbow Bridge’. To Be or Knot To Be: In groups of 12, students are to stand in a circle and to hold the hands of 2 other persons. The team will then attempt to untangle themselves without letting go of their hands. Fastest team emerges as the winner. Charades: In groups of 6-8, 2 students from the team is to be blind founded. 1 of them would have to pick up slips of papers to pass to the other blind founded member. This, with the help of voices of the other team members, would assist the team in piecing the puzzle together to get a complete picture. Again, the team is assessed on the time taken to complete the task. The Rainbow Bridge: In groups of 12, students are to make use of materials such as newspapers, straws, masking tape and ice cream sticks to build a stable structure. The best team goes to the one whose structure is able to withstand the most weight. Lots of stuff that requires my urgent attention in the coming week- Baby’s birthday celebration, preparation for the workshop, project deadlines to note etc. July is such a hectic month. |
